A Very Special New Release - The Gatehaven Study Guide by Jeanette Pierce, Based on the novel Gatehaven by Molly Noble Bull
I have some really big new for you guys, but I need to begin this post with an apology.
I've been a very bad blogger lately, and I know it. :(
Between work, trying to finish my current WIP before the kids get out of school, helping my mom, and spending a solid week of 8- to 10-hour days on a big editing job, I've neglected my friends. You didn't deserve that, and I'm sorry. I'll try to be a better blogger in the future.
What's the big news?
My mom is officially a published author! :D
A writer friend of ours, Molly Bull, asked her to write a study guide to go along with one of her novels. Gatehaven is an award-winning, Christian gothic novel set in a scary mansion in the north of England in 1794.
So Mom did--she used her expertise as a career language arts teacher and created a set of workbooks to go with it.
In this Bible-based study of spiritual warfare vs. the occult, documented background information provides a picture of life in England and Scotland during the late 1700s, emphasizing the status hierarchy and its effects on the people, especially those on the lower rungs of the social ladder and the Protestant Reformation, some of its leaders, and its effects on religion in Europe.
Jeanette Pierce is a retired English teacher living in
Houston, Texas. She holds a master’s degree and has taught at high school and
college levels. The two study guides for Gatehaven
are her first published works, but stay tuned. Jeanette is currently working on
study guides for When The Cowboy Rides Away.
This was not only Mom's first publishing experience, but her first self-publishing experience as well. Shortly after we uploaded the books, she weighed in on the process of self-publishing.
LOL - I can relate... :P

Also included are study questions
for each chapter of the novel, a vocabulary list, questions related to the
structure of the novel, and a writing assignment that students can complete
independently of the teacher.
Note: This product description is for the student guide. The teacher's guide contains the answers and gives permission for the teacher to make copies of the final exam for the students.
Molly Noble Bull is a multi-published
Christian novelist from South Texas, and Gatehaven
is the grand prize winner of the 2013 Creation House Fiction Writing Contest.
As a result, it was published in trade paperback and e-book in March 2014.
Molly’s next novel, When The Cowboy Rides
Away, is scheduled for publication in 2015.
LOL - I can relate... :P

ReplyDeleteThat's the funniest comment about publishing a book I've ever read! A Hippo. I agree and it's so graphic.

ReplyDelete(Thanks for dropping by my blog and for your suggestion. Simply Linked has no email, no "Help" link, and their Twitter acct hasn't been active in 2 years. So no help there...)
Way to go for your mom in particular Melissa. Now I wonder how she knew the comparison of giving birth to a hippo?

Don't worry about not blogging. Most of the time, there are more important things to worry about and we'll still be here when you get back.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your mom!
If her tweet is true, I'm metaphorically pregnant with two hippos. ;-)
