I have a dystopian on the back burner that's still in the plotting stage. I remained frustrated for years that I didn't have time to work on it, but now I'm glad I put it off. Living through a pandemic has lent me valuable perspective.
As far as genres I haven't tried at all, mysteries are tempting. But I'm not sure if it's the genre itself that draws me or simple curiosity over learning the trick behind crafting a whodunit plot.
In any case, I eventually want to write more books for my other pen name, and that dystopian would be a great fit.
Wishing everyone a fun, safe 4th!

IWSG is the brainchild of Alex J. Cavanaugh. It's a monthly bloghop that offers a safe haven for writers to express their feelings and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. It's also a venue for offering support, both in the form of comments and positive posts. Writers of all kinds are welcome.
We 'meet' the first Wednesday of every month. If you're interested in learning more, click on the link above. And don't be intimidated by the size of the group. We're not expected to visit everyone on the list.
You have another pen name? Awesome! I was thinking of doing that IF I switch my genre. I do like dystopian. Have a Very Happy 4th!!

DeleteSounds like you are in the right place now to tackle that dystopian!
ReplyDeleteNow would be a good time to write your dystopian. They're making a comeback.
ReplyDeleteSome stories have to wait for the right time. My paranormal ones sat there for almost ten years.
ReplyDeleteI love creating the puzzle pieces for readers to put together in my mysteries.
ReplyDeleteI love a good cozy mystery, but it's something I would want to write.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure writing dystopia would be good for me in a time of dystopia! As for mysteries... it IS fun to put the clues together, if sometimes aggravating as heck to make it all work right, not too obvious, but with all the bits present.
