I don't have any guests scheduled for today, nor do I have any great words of wisdom bursting forth to type into this big white space (...you can stop snickering now. = P). So I decided to do a pop quiz of sorts and see who is visiting my blog. To reward my faithful followers I'm giving away 2 things. Well, 4 really.
To the first 3 people who comment on this post, I'm giving away a free, 5-page critique. HURRY! If you want a critique, scroll down and comment right now, then come back up and finish reading this!
LOL - Now that that's out of the way, take your time.
For the 4th prize:
For everyone who visits this post until midnight on the 27th, I'm offering a chance to win a $15 Amazon gift card. (That equals anywhere from the better part of one best-seller hardback to fifteen 99c kindle books. = P Keep in mind, it can be used on other stuff besides books.) If you want to enter the drawing for the gift card, leave me a comment and fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Once the contest ends, I'll announce the winners and give out the prizes. This is a random drawing, so everyone who enters has the same chance of winning.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Anyone with email access and the ability to make and view MS Word documents may enter to win the critique - US or international. As for the Amazon gift card, you might want to check their policies first. It looks like international recipients would not be able to redeem them.
Oh, and it goes without saying, but I am collecting email address for the sole purpose of contacting the winners and providing prizes. Your private information will not be shared, sold, or otherwise misused in any way. ; ) Also, if you win a critique, wait for instructions before emailing me your submission.
Check back next week. My goal is to post the winners with Wednesday's blog post.
Good luck! And thanks for visiting! = )
PS: Feel free to share this if you wish. ; )

Nice to meet you, too. Thanks for visiting. = )
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being the first to comment!
About using my nursing background in my writing: Yes. As a matter of fact, I do. I mean, I haven't written anything totally medical (yet), but there are medical elements in the first two books since, among other things, the hero is a doctor.
There is also science involved (my favorite subject), and my background came into play with that, too. There was a lot of reading up on RNA and DNA synthesis, viruses and antiviral drugs, etc., that went on behind the scenes -- stuff the reader will never see -- that helped me stick as close to the truth as possible with the sci-fi aspects of the plot.
Hope that wasn't TMI. LOL
(Can you tell I love science. = D)
Thanks for stopping by my blog Melissa. I've enjoyed learning more about you and your work through this Platform Building Campaign.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, my kids have this series of cartoons they like to watch "Nu Pogodi!" [it's Russian so you wouldn't be familiar with it]. Anyway, the background during the credits on one episode reminds me of the background on your blog. :-)
Sounds neat! Wish I could see that. The background for my blog was something I put up on a whim before loading the 'real' background I'd chosen. We (Carrie and I, chatting on instant chat) both said "Ooooo - I think that's the one,' and it stuck. hahaha
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being the second commenter! Hope you signed up for the raffle. ; )
Yay! Glad I found your blog! So nice to meet you :) I'll go follow you on Twitter now...
ReplyDeleteGlad to find you & yours, too! Thanks for visiting and congrats on being the third to comment!!! = )
DeleteI'd love to be in the raffle for a critique. hee hee - I could run a contest with my 4 students and my winner could get your critique!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to run #1 to class, then back to take #2 and #3 to a different class! (We homeschoolers have a LOT of class, right?! It just takes us a while to get there! LOL)
I'll be back to read what I skimmed over just now!
Hello, 'Unknown.' This has gotta be Lizzie. LOL
DeleteI'm all about helping new writers. You're on. For your homeschoolers, you can raffle off a 5-page critique among them, and I'll pay up. ; )
Will reply by email. ; )
DeleteWoohoo! I told 829 of my closest friends. :D
ReplyDeleteAck! = O
Deletehahaha Thanks. ; )
I wish I had read your blog earlier! I did enter the raffle. This is such a generous offer on your part. I've been so happy with the level of support writers give each other. Thank you for your blogs and your inputs.
ReplyDeleteRichard Alan
Thanks, Richard. Glad you entered the raffle. Check back from time to time. I'm sure there'll be more surprise giveaways in the future. ; )
DeleteHow did I miss this yesterday... totally bummed to miss out on the critique. But hey would love the gift card. :o)
ReplyDeleteAwww. Well, maybe you and I can swap one sometime. And there will be more giveaways in the future--crits included. ; )
DeleteThanks for stopping by. = )
Aw man, That's what happens when you don't read your email. You show up late to the party. that always happens to me on the day after Christmas too. I could have so used a critique. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Sorry, Tina. Like I told Jennifer. There will be other crit giveaways in the future. And I might consider swapping here and there with people, too. I'm going to be in the market for more crit partners soon. ; ) Anyhow, hope you entered the raffle at least. Thanks for stopping by. = )
DeleteI can't enter as I'm from the UK, just wanted to say hi :-)
ReplyDeleteSara. I'm new to blogging, and I'm open to including international entries. I just don't know how. Please feel free to enlighten me! Thanks for visiting. = )
DeleteFor fun!
ReplyDeleteAren't you in a fun give-a-way mood! ;)
Hope I filled out the rafflecopter thingie right. What a fun contest, Melissa! :D
Don't worry. I know where to find you if you win. = P
DeleteGlad you stopped by and entered the drawing. = )
How do you like using the rafflecopter over simply randomly choosing a commenter? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteWell... can I tell you once it's over? LOL (kidding - kind of) This is my first time to use Rafflecopter. It has been handy so far, and it can be wonderful for people who want to give multiple entry chances for contestants. I do like that I can see who all has entered, complete with their contact info. And - I haven't done it yet - but it appears to have a feature that randomly and fairly chooses the winner, taking the heat off of me. ha! In any case, it was easy to create and get the code for. And it was free. = )
DeletePS - For a contest with lots of entries, it would save a ton of time. I'd hate to have to hand-make scraps of paper with each persons' name to draw from a hat. = O
DeleteI'll be curious, too, how Rafflecopter works! Thanks for the opportunity and congrats to the winners of the critiques!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Deborah. = )
DeleteI haven't forgotten I need to send you my pages. Just got my regular critique partner's chapter 1 revisions back last night, right in the middle of packing for a trip. So I should be able to send both chapters next week. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteNo worries, Sher, and no rush. Whenever you're ready is fine. Thanks for stopping by and good luck with the raffle. = )
Deletewow, that's very generous of you. Congrats to the winners of the critiques.
ReplyDeleteWhat great giveaways. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Thanks and you're welcome. Glad you stopped by to sign up. We gotta have a little fun sometimes on these blogs - right?
DeleteSame to you! = )
