IWSG - Putting An End To It

Can you believe it's December already?
Where did the year go!

December 4 question: Do you write cliffhangers at the end of your stories?
Are they a turn-off to you as a writer and/or a reader?

I write romance, so, no, I do not end my books on a cliffhanger. My readers expect a happily ever after.

Reader-me enjoyed a series of short works many years ago that ended with hooks and formed a complete story as a set, but they were appropriately priced for the page count, and the author rapid-released them (one every week or two?), so I didn't have to wait long for the next.

As a rule, however, I prefer full-length novels with happy or, at least, satisfying endings.

I hope 2024 has a happy ending for you.

Merry Christmas

IWSG is the brainchild of Alex J. Cavanaugh. It's a monthly bloghop that offers a safe haven for writers to express their feelings and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. It's also a venue for offering  support, both in the form of comments and positive posts. Writers of all kinds are welcome.

We 'meet' the first Wednesday of every month. If you're interested in learning more, click on the link above. And don't be intimidated by the size of the group. We're not expected to visit everyone on the list

Comments

  1. I can see it working for short stories that are released close together, but not for full novels.

  2. That short works sounds like a weekly TV series.
