Please stop by their blogs and say thank you.
My personal life is taking over with a vengeance, and my social media presence is all but non-existant. Because my writing has come to a screeching halt, and my insecurities - both writing and not - are too numerous to list, I decided to re-post something to help you with your writing. It's an old post from in 2013. It was aimed at people doing NANO, but it's for anyone wants tips to speed up their writing.

Thanks for visiting.
IWSG is the
brainchild of Alex J. Cavanaugh. It's a monthly bloghop that offers a
safe haven for writers to express their feelings and concerns without
fear of appearing foolish or weak. It's also a venue for offering
support, both in the form of comments and positive posts. Writers of all kinds are welcome.

Great advice, Melissa. Wish I would have read that post back in 2013! Love ya, girlie! Hugs. Eva
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eva.
DeleteMaintain control where you can and don't over-stress what you can't control.
ReplyDeleteGood advice. I'm trying...
DeleteI totally understand. Personal life does get in the way, but you'll soon be back to your writing. Take a break.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just have to step back and breathe.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Diane IWSG #92
Hang in there! Take care of yourself....
ReplyDeleteI remember that post!
ReplyDeleteI hope your personal life works out. Based on my FB feed, it looks like you've got a lot going on! Phew, girl. Here's me wishing you strength and stamina!
I hope things get better and you can go back to your writing routine! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAs you saw in my IWSG post, social media is beating me up pretty badly too. Hope your personal life turns to the better. Mine finally is.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope you get back to writing soon, even if it is only a page a day. It is a beginning. And thanks for the article on NaNo. I am participating this year.
Shalom,
Patricia
Real life is happening here, too. I'm struggling to keep my head above water. It's going to be like this until the end of the year, so I'm looking for a good PFD to keep me afloat. Sending good wishes for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your old NaNo post. I write the same way. I don't know if I could leave a blank like that or not, but it might be worth a try. Hope life smoothes out for you soon.
ReplyDeleteGood advice, Melissa. I'm still on the fence about doing Nano this year, but we'll see. Your post is right on; I also find it best to just keep writing and fix the not so great stuff later.
ReplyDeleteHope all straightens out Melissa. Deal with life and then worry about the writing, social media side.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't need to speed up their writing? I hope things get better and that there's cheese or chocolate to carry you through the crazy.
ReplyDeleteSorry about there being so many insecurities. I hate it when that happens.
ReplyDeleteGood advice there - I do the same thing of leaving notes about sections I need to come back to if I get stuck.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything smooths over soon! Thanks for the advice!
ReplyDeleteKeep faith and keep on keeping on, Melissa.
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts.
Hi Melissa. Firstly, thank you for your visit to my blog. And thank you for the link to your past article. I like that. I always type in capitals--RESEARCH MIDDLE AGES IRON--or something so I don't go off and have a great time on the internet when I should be writing my story. Then when my creative brains won't switch on, I go do some research. All fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd a million thanks for your practical help re ads for my book. I'll look into them.
Denise Covey November co-host IWSG

ReplyDeleteand thanks for all your support!
Hi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteIt seems you are trying to find a balance in your writing with so many other commitments in your life. I hope that your verbalisation and the support you shall receive from within this community will be a modicum of comfort. I'm sending you positive vibes and the writing dog is sending you pawsitive vibes.
Look after YOU!
Gary :)
Hope things settle down soon. Personal life can get crazy sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHope things get easier for you soon. >_< And I like the old post, though I don't know if I could do that while writing. I make notes like that while doing my by-hand edit, though, and often end up cursing myself when I write a note that just says "fix this" and later can't figure out why I thought it needed fixing. Bah.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I think my personal life is overcrowding my writing life. I said a prayer for you. I hope things turn around and load lightens soon. (((hugs)))
