This is my Insecure Writers Support Group post for February 2022.
Please stop by their blogs and say thank you.

The question this month asked about people who've supported or influenced our writing, namely someone who isn't around anymore or someone we miss.
I'm lucky that the people who set me on my journey and those who support me along the way are still living. My mother is a one-woman cheering squad and my proofreader. I don't even want to think about losing her, and that has nothing to do with the cost of hiring out the blessing of a service she provides.
The creative world recently experienced a significant loss, though. On January 3rd, Jeremy Hawkins passed away. I didn't know Jeremy well, because we ran in different circles, but I never heard anything but great things about him.
If you'd like to do something in memory of Jeremy, consider supporting his family by purchasing one of his t-shirt designs, one of his books, or one of his prints. He also created the IWSG t-shirt.
❤❤❤❤❤
IWSG is the brainchild of Alex J. Cavanaugh. It's a monthly bloghop that offers a safe haven for writers to express their feelings and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. It's also a venue for offering support, both in the form of comments and positive posts. Writers of all kinds are welcome.
We 'meet' the first Wednesday of every month. If you're interested in learning more, click on the link above. And don't be intimidated by the size of the group. We're not expected to visit everyone on the list.
That's so awesome how your mom has supported your writing. And she proofreads for you. That is so cool you can share your writing journey.
ReplyDeleteThat's great your mom is your biggest cheerleader.
ReplyDeleteI lost my parents, two sons, a niece, and several friends in the early 90s, long before I'd been published. I'm glad you've still got your mother, Melissa. That's a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteMy parents are both gone but my husband is a big supporter.
ReplyDeleteI never knew Jeremy, but it's nice to see so many people remember his impact.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing many tributes to Jeremy today. He was well loved. Glad you have your mom's support. Mine has gradually come around to supporting my creative work late in life. I wish you happy writing in February!
ReplyDeleteThat is grand that your mom proofreads for you.
ReplyDeleteJeremy is popping up a lot today, which is a wonderful thing.
Take special care.
That's so awesome that your mom is both such a great help and encouragement!
ReplyDeleteHow blessed you are to have a loving mother who is active in supporting your dreams! ❤️ We all need that person in our life.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Jeremy. It's good your mom is still here. Enjoy her and treat her well. Both of my parents have now gone on.
ReplyDeleteMoms make the best cheerleaders! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteYay for moms!
ReplyDeleteMany writers are not lucky enough to have a supportive family member let alone one who is actively involved in their writing process. That's awesome that your mother is so helpful.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know him well either, but I did pick up a new tee shirt in creative solidarity.
ReplyDeleteSupportive family members are the best!
ReplyDeleteI know that many IWSG members felt the loss of Jeremy Hawkins keenly. It's so hard to loose people we care about. I'm glad that you still have your mother. I miss mine every day. Have a happy April!
