Grammar Police Monday - Pieces Of Flair

Don't worry. GPM is still around.

My apologies for the preempt last week, but paying homage to our fearless leader, Alex 'no hyperlink needed' Cavanaugh, was worth it. :)

Announcements first!

Anne over at Writer's Space nominated me for the Addictive Blog Award.

(Does this mean I should start a 12-step program for bloggers? Some of us probably need it. :P)

The rules of the award are:
1.                  Thank the person awarding you. Thank you, Anne!
2.                  Share a little about why you blog and how the journey started.
3.                  Paste the blog award on your page.
4.                  Nominate 10 other bloggers you feel deserve the award.

In the interest of time and space, I'll link to a guest post I wrote to satisfy #2, then pass it on to some people who make the writer/blogger world a better place. This is by NO means an all-inclusive list.

Now for GPM...

Diffuse vs Defuse
Diffuse means to spread or scatter widely.
Defuse means to make something less dangerous or less volatile.

Whole vs Hole
If something is whole, it's complete; undivided; unbroken.
It probably won't have a hole in it.

Flare vs Flair
Flare means to blaze with a sudden burst of flame.
Flair means having talent, aptitude, smartness of style.

Thanks for visiting. :)

It means a lot to me. I've been so crappy down lately, and it warms my heart. I'll put mine up on Wed. and let you know. :)

  13. I've got to get used to swinging by on Mondays. I post Sundays and surf...miss things until I post again. And I LOVE your Grammar Police Mondays. It's the little things like that that are so easy to confuse. Do you have an archive that's specific to GPM?

Congrats on the award. I get high on writing every time I come over!

    1. Thanks for the compliments!

Yes I do have an archive. It's over to the right in the page index, 'Grammar Police Files - A List of all the posts'

  14. I love Grammar Police Mondays. And due to ML Swift's comment above, I've learned you have GPM archives on your sidebar, which I've completely overlooked. I plan to peruse them at my leisure.

Love the words you chose for this post. Particularly "diffuse/defuse." Thanks for giving me much needed clarity on the two.

Also congrats on your Addictive Blog award.
